A little magic brought me and Melissa together. To make a long story short, I asked the Universe (and the Metaverse via FB) where I should go on my first solo adventure sans kids, post-divorce. I received hundreds of ideas, thoughts, and suggestions from various friends and travel groups that I am a member of. As exciting as the ideas were, they weren’t perfect. Finally, my sister pointed me to a little retreat center in Mexico that she knew of, that just happened to have a retreat open on the exact week I was looking for. The host? None other, but the Spiritual Misfit, Melissa Romero. I liked her Insta, and immediately DMed her to see if this retreat would be a good fit for me. It 100% was. When did you start your business, and why did you create it?
I started about four years ago in order to Empower Women to live unapologetically in their power.
Tell us about your business and what makes you unique in your field.
My business is called The Spiritual Misfit Coaching and my mission is to have all women live unapologetically in their authentic power and love and accept themselves in the process.
What do you feel makes your audience special?
They are Diosas – Goddesses capable of ANYTHING
If you could magically give all of your community members one thing in this world, what would it be, and why?
I would give acceptance and surrender. If we come to accept all aspects of life, the light and the dark, and see the opportunities that they both present, we get to live life more freely. When we come into that level of acceptance, we can then open ourselves up to surrender to what is. This, in turn, helps us be more present to life and learn to love ourselves and our lives more deeply. Ultimately bringing more presence to joy and love.
Has anything surprised you about starting a business?
Yes! One thing that continues to surprise me is how once I make a decision the Universe conspires on my behalf. I just set the intention to create and the universe guides me on the path and sometimes it may look different than what I imagined, but it’s always perfect!
Did you create your own website or hire it out? Do you use WordPress?
I hired out for my website. Yes I think they used WordPress.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting their own business?
I would recommend that they be clear with their intention. What is it that you want to offer the world? and How does it benefit humanity?
If you could go back in time and do something differently, what would you do and why?
Absolutely nothing!! Every experience, every fall, every smile, every trauma; ALL OF IT brought me to where I am today. My story is my MOST powerful ally and the most powerful medicine I offer the world!
Do you have an email list? If so, did you start it when you launched?
Yes, I do. I’ve been working on it for a couple of years now.
Is this your only job? Did you launch your business while working another job?
Yes, this is my only job. When I began my business 5 years ago I was working as a school teacher. I am newly retired from teaching.
How do you promote your site?
I use social media ads to promote my site.
What influential books have you read lately?
Some of the most influential books I’ve read are The Surrender Experiment, Seat of the Soul, The Art of Abundance, and Building A Storybrand.
